Does that stop me from loving it in my romance reads? Absolutely NOT. I love how NEXT LEVEL stalker Jeremy became. OBVIOUSLY we are in for lots of back and forth between these two (both in and out of the sheets, lol). She is kind and will often put the needs of her friends above her own. Although she is fiercely independent, she is also the mother-hen of her friend group. There is nothing particularly nice about his demeanor. A protective brother, but a ruthless leader. ![]() So far, we have seen Jeremy as violent yet cunning. In this particular story from the Legacy of Gods series, we get to learn more about Jeremy and Cecily. There's so much to love: the college setting, the accents (I frigging love listening to books with different accents!), the alphahole males, and SO MUCH STEAM. To say that I'm obsessed with this series would be an understatement. ![]() Blood and Rain by Glenn Rolfe7/8/2023 ![]() ![]() Until Summer Comes Around by Glenn Rolfe Paperback, 288 Pages, Published 2020 by Flame Tree Publishing, United Kingdom ISBN-13: 978-1-78758-392-4, ISBN: 1-78758-392-9 Garrison, Elle Pryor Paperback, 160 Pages, Published 2012 by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform ISBN-13: 978-1-5024-2081-7, ISBN: 1-5024-2081-3įiction Without Frontiers Ser. My Impressions: Brene Brown begins with her own experiences as a child desperately wanting to “belong” and be a member of a group, and her emotional disappointments when that didn’t work out. This standing alone is the metaphorical “wilderness” – and it takes courage to be truly authentic, to leave the comfort of the group to go there, often alone, in order to live with honesty, courage and integrity. She also explores the seeming contradictory need to stand apart from our chosen group(s) for what we believe in, when the group is going in different directions. Brene Brown takes a “deep dive” into our need to feel connected to other people and social groups, and something greater than ourselves. ![]() ![]() Summary in 4 sentences: The subtitle to this book is “The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone” which sums up the main theme of this book. ![]() Why this book: It was selected by the All American Leadership Faculty Reading group I belong to. ![]() The stars beneath our feet review7/7/2023 ![]() ![]() While all the adults in his life want him to talk about what happened, creating fantastical and vast Lego worlds in the storage room at the rec center with Big Rose, a quiet girl, eases Lolly’s mind and helps him to imagine just the life he wants to build for himself. I’ll just do a quick write up of each story and a wee bit of concluding thoughts. There’s also 2 short essays on writing, and I’ll say a few words about those later. They are generally interesting, nothing spectacular, but nice enough. It’s somewhat of a behind the scenes publication: each story is followed by an afterword of about 2 pages, in which Butler talks a bit about what she wanted to do with the story or how it came about. The fact that I chose to look online for the additional material is telling: this is not a bad collection – and that from an author who opens the preface to her collection with this line: “The truth is, I hate short story writing.” I did some googling and I found those easily, here and here – I’ll review them too. From 2005 onward however, it has been printed with two more stories – Amnesty and The Book Of Martha, both written in 2003. ![]() The copy I got was published in 1995, and that has 5 stories, plus 2 essays. ![]() There’s a couple of editions of the collection.
