Osho on krishna book7/4/2023 ![]() In 1974 Rajneesh relocated to Pune, where an ashram was established and a variety of therapies, incorporating methods first developed by the Human Potential Movement, were offered to a growing Western following. During this period he expanded his spiritual teachings and commented extensively in discourses on the writings of religious traditions, mystics, and philosophers from around the world. In 1970, Rajneesh spent time in Mumbai initiating followers known as "neo-sannyasins". In advocating a more open attitude to human sexuality he caused controversy in India during the late 1960s and became known as "the sex guru". Rajneesh emphasized the importance of meditation, mindfulness, love, celebration, courage, creativity and humor-qualities that he viewed as being suppressed by adherence to static belief systems, religious tradition and socialization. In the 1960s he traveled throughout India as a public speaker and was a vocal critic of socialism, Mahatma Gandhi, and Hindu religious orthodoxy. ![]() During his lifetime he was viewed as a controversial new religious movement leader and mystic. Rajneesh (born Chandra Mohan Jain, 11 December 1931 – 19 January 1990) and latter rebranded as Osho was leader of the Rajneesh movement. ![]() A starless clan7/4/2023 ![]() I'm not saying he should've had it worse, but the cats around him sure deserved better apologies. He really didn't face enough consequences for his actions - not for the way he treated Sunbeam at the beginning and the end nor for the way he abandoned ThunderClan. ![]() Nightheart I've been indifferent towards for most of the series, but in this book I can say he started to grow on me a little. Sunbeam has been my favorite of the main characters of this arc from the start, but I feel like her relationship with Nightheart is taking away from her side of the story, and at times she just seemed like a camera character, which she had never been before. Sunbeam and Nightheart are more complicated. Starting with the protagonists, Frostpaw was great in this book! I feel like her personality is getting a lot more defined and I loved seeing her stand up for herself and make her own decisions, even if sometimes they might not be the best ones. ![]() The humor was pretty good too - something I just noticed I don't say often of Warriors books - and the tension and emotional moments were top tier. The plot was a lot more packed and faster-paced than before, which of course made for a more fun read! There were times I couldn't stop myself from reading. ![]() This was a lot better than I'd expected, so definitely a pleasant surprise! Generally speaking, I found Shadow to be far more well written and planned out than the first two books, and it sure did change my perception of this arc as a whole quite a bit. ![]() Victoria foyt save the pearls7/4/2023 ![]() ![]() Eden spends most of her days in a research assistant position which she achieved due to her father's importance to a secret assignment, and most of her nights hoping that her boyfriend Jamal will one day choose her as his mate. Each race is given a name for their station, with white people being named Pearls and black people being named Coals. The underground society relies on a racial system where the darker your skin naturally is, the more likely your rate of survival. A solar burst has decimated nearly all life on Earth, forcing everyone to live underground to avoid "the Heat", the world's name for skin cancer. The book follows Eden, a young white woman who has been raised in a post-apocalyptic environment. The book is set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian society and follows the titular character of Eden as she attempts to move outside of her set station in life and find a way to survive outside the norms set by society.īook two of the series, Adapting Eden, was released in the spring of 2013. ![]() Save the Pearls: Revealing Eden is a 2012 young adult novel by American author Victoria Foyt and the first book in the Save the Pearls series. ![]() Hattie big sky audiobook7/4/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() “Hon, when someone’s a true friend, there’s no need to miss ’em.” She patted her chest. A beautiful epistolary novel filled with history, friendship, bravery, and even a bit of feminism, Hattie Big Sky is a novel you shouldn’t miss. Unfortunately, when she arrives Hattie realizes homesteading isn’t what she expected it to be. When she receives a letter from her Uncle Charlie’s lawyer saying he left his homestead claim in Vida, Montana to his niece, Hattie jumps at the chance to drop her nickname Hattie Here-and-There. She has been shuttled between relatives repeatedly since her parents died when she was a toddler. It’s 1918 and sixteen-year-old Hattie Inez Brooks is tired of feeling out of place. But Hattie Big Sky might be one of my all-time favorite young adult novels. I wasn’t a big fan of The Higher Power of Lucky, which won the 2007 Newbery Award. Not only because I feel like this is an underrated book, but because it is a 2007 Newbery Honor book. I find it practically impossible to articulate the passion I feel for 5-star and the rare 6-star book! But I had to try with Hattie Big Sky. I don’t often write reviews for books I love. ![]() The secret chapter genevieve cogman7/4/2023 ![]() That book is in the hands of a well known thief and con artist, one who might be willing to make a trade but certainly will not part easily with the book. By 1982, Joshi was already recognized as a leading authority on Lovecraft, and his preparation of corrected texts of Lovecrafts fiction for Arkham House helped to launch a revolution in the study of the dreamer from Providence. He was accepted as an undergraduate at Brown University, where he not only learned Greek and Latin but explored the vast resources of the Lovecraft Collection at the John Hay Library. About the Book Autobiography of a literary critic, whose main focus has been the study of 20th century horror author H. ![]() Grave mercy book 37/4/2023 ![]() It seemed like surely they must be up to something much more intriguing than simply praying and living quietly behind those cloistered walls! So I let my imagination begin to fill in the blanks. I wanted to look at things like faith and devotion and blind obedience through that darker lens.Īlso? I went to Catholic school for the first few years of my live, and the nuns absolutely fascinated me with all their mystery and suppressed passion and enigmatic rituals. I wanted something darker, more ambiguous, and ultimately something that would shake the very foundation of what my characters thought they knew about the world. Healers felt like a natural choice, which is why I shied away from it. ![]() That kind of lit my imagination on fire and I began mulling over different sorts of convents and what sorts of power they’d confer to their inhabitants. One fascinating tidbit I read said that many noblewomen were all too happy to join a convent because being a nun often gave them much more freedom and autonomy than being a wife. But I wanted that source of power to feel organic and true to the historical world. I wanted to write a story about a heroine who was absolutely powerless, but managed to carve some small power out of a society and culture where women traditionally had none. Firstly, what inspired you to write a book about assassin nuns? It’s quite an unusual subject! ![]() |
